IATSE Joins Hollywood Commission's MyConnext Misconduct Reporting Platform

IATSE: IATSE today announced that the MyConnext Resources & Reporting Tool for safer workplaces is now available for members working anywhere in the United States on motion pictures, television, streaming productions and commercials. The online platform provides members with an expanded toolset specifically built to help protect freelance entertainment workers.

It’s unfortunate it took this long for this tool to reach IATSE television and movie workers because it sounds really useful if it truly does what the article says it does. I think a place to anonymously report incidences is a very good idea as it may encourage malpractices at work to be reported and have someone to either anonymously talk to or report. I think the option to not report until another report against the same person appears is interesting—this option not only uses reports on a cross horizontal level but enables the reporter more confidence to report and be believed. I wish the School of Drama had something like this; I know we have like a Human Resources and DEI people yo go to but it feels far less anonymous, nothing ever gets done, and if it were against a teacher it never reaches the people who can actually do something about it.
