The more I read about animatronics, the more I believe that this subfield of design and engineering is what might catapult discussions surrounding AI and assistive robotics into those of true science fiction in how we one day interact with robotics on an everyday basis. As this technology deepens and becomes more advanced in creation and integration (specifically related to software development for these animatronics), I think a further draw for this company is what other people will want to use it for in the near future as the finishing touches on say a robotic assistant to clean your home. A robot of that kind of capacity to actually maintain ones home will likely be off-putting and hard to convince people to buy into, but as they become more common, there will ultimately be a desire for these robots to become more human (similar to an animatronic) and therefore more accommodating in their implementation. This kind of work is incredibly exciting as it brings new developments to theme park-esque experiences, but I remain curious about where these developments will end up in the future of technology and robotics.
