The unfortunate reality of the world we live in today is that AI is becoming more prevalent in all industries, and with that new prevalence comes both good and bad developments. While I stand firmly against using AI in ways that some large corporations are doing, like with the recent Coca Cola Christmas commercial, I do begrudgingly agree with this article that soon companies who use AI are going to replace those who do not. I think that using AI for accessibility and extracting data, like the article states, is an amazing and appropriate use for the tool, especially in museums. Anything that can respectfully make museums more effective for the general public is- in my opinion- a good thing. However, with the new use of AI in museums I think that curators and scientists need to be careful and make sure that they are maintaining a respectful relationship with the artifacts and that teaching history and honoring the past remains their main goal.
