Q&A: Cassius Creative On Lighting Glass Animals—Tour Of Earth
Live Design Online: London-based Cassius Creative are the production and lighting designers for Tour Of Earth, Glass Animals' latest North American outing. Responsible for overseeing scenic design and the integration of stage lighting, video surfaces, and scenic LED in addition to stage automation effects and laser integration, the team incorporated concepts from the band's lead vocalist Dave Bayley and referenced vintage sci-fi visuals with both cutting edge tech and a Victorian stage gag.

It’s always interesting to read about the creative and technical processes involved in the entertainment/concert world, and I really appreciate how in depth this article goes on the various aspects of the Glass Animals tours in both a technical and creative perspective. I really enjoyed reading about the details of how they worked to completely conceal any lighting positions and embedded electrics in order to keep focus on the scenic and the band/set itself. I find it really interesting to see ZacTracks applications - and the way they use it for a 4-point followspot cover for each of the band members is really neat. It’s one of those technologies that I would love to explore some day. I love learning about what different productions use for programming surfaces and previz software - the fact that in the end, all of the tech is operated manually is incredibly neat and a nod to the skills of the programmers in creating a dynamic, exciting show.
