SIX is one of my favorite musicals and it is the one that I have seen the most times. I first discovered SIX back in 2021, and when my mom and I planned a trip to New York City in 2022 we made sure to get tickets for the show. I was beyond excited in the weeks leading up to the show, and finally stepping into that theater felt like a fever dream. I was also fortunate enough to see five out of six of the original Broadway cast members. Since then, I have seen the US tour twice with my friends, and it is amazing to see how every actor approaches their portrayal of each Queen differently. For me, that is part of the magic of SIX. The fans seem to pay attention to the individual actors more so than any other Broadway musical, and I think it is beautiful that the cast is getting the recognition they deserve.
When I first read about SIX and its student rush tickets, I was instantly excited. I saw Six with my best friend doing the Broadway lottery almost two years ago, and we got so lucky without seats we got a biz all to ourselves, and it was such a great experience. The Broadway lottery has been open for six for a long time, but I'm glad they are branching out to cheaper rush tickets as well. I would be really excited if I decided to go again to see the new cast and the choices made, and just the overall way the show has evolved over the past two years without actually changing. I've also always wanted to see this show in London because they have the actual accent of these queens, and that's where the show originated, and I feel like it would be a whole new experience, especially seeing a West End show; I've only ever seen one, and it was phenomenal, so we'll see what the future holds!
This is the first show I've seen selling discounted student tickets, and I think it's great to offer more accessibility to students. As a college student studying drama, I love to go out and see live theatre and see how the things that I'm learning are being applied in the professional world. Unfortunately it can be very expensive, but a lot of small theaters will offer student tickets.I hope other Broadway shows will start to pick up this trend as well. It would be awesome to be able to go see more shows as a student without having to worry so much about the cost.
I saw SIX this spring, and it was a phenomenal show. I especially loved the concert-style lighting that was used, this is the only musical I've seen that has been able to do that. The structure of this musical is very different from most contemporary musicals, but it still felt like I was in a theatre. They creative team and the actors have done great work with this show.
This is great! The shows I saw on tour in my hometown were often the ones that offered student rush tickets like these and those were some of the things that really inspired and deepened my interest and love in theater. Being able to see these big-budget tours pushed my understanding of what could be possible in the technical theater realm was really important for me growing up. Especially as touring, regional and Broadway theater prices continue to rise, efforts like this make me happy that folks are trying to make theater accessible to younger generations (especially as younger fan bases tend to be pretty far spread). I saw SIX when it passed through Pittsburgh my freshman year, and it’s a really fun show. It’s been pretty popular over a number of years now, and I’m glad to hear it’s still a popular one. I hope to see initiatives like this continue to spread.
I think selling discounted student rush tickets are an amazing opportunity for college student to see six live, I wish this would happen more often on broadway since the average broadway ticket isn’t financially accessible to a college student(most of us are very broke) so if more chances for cheap tickets arose I think a lot more students would be interested in buying tickets(I’m personally apprehensive about buying broadway tickets due to their price, so I would be really interested in trying to get a rush ticket) I think other broadway shows should follow six’s example and should put out discounted tickets(bigger shows could put out more tickets maybe around 20 or 30) it would increase interest in going to live theater and would just look better in general for show. Live theater is an incredible experience and I think it would be cool if it was accessible to more people
