I enjoy positive articles such as this one that highlight the distribution of theatre especially to kids who may not have as easy access to such arts otherwise. Inside Broadway’s program to involve public school kids and I also appreciate it accepts kids from elementary to high school. The afterschool element not only provides some families a form of day care, but the engagement in acting and puting on a show let alone a musical to me sounds like a great way to let kids express themselves and be exposed to the process. I think theatre is often a privilege in schools as it is not often prioritized and therefore often non-existent. I believe in making theatre more and more accessible to people of all ages and levels of identities. However I hope the 50 schools selected are not biased by certain areas of the boroughs whether that be by wealth, race, or any other form of identity that often skews target audiences of programs like these.
