Projection mapping projects | Barco explores business deals

blooloop: Until recently, the projection mapping sector had been following a fairly linear path of one-off projections onto buildings at tourist locations or for seasonal or commercial promotions. But lately, more diverse applications have emerged as major drivers. This has changed the business models that are available. What are the ins and outs of these mappings?

Yet another new field within the industry that is so complex. You really forget how much work goes on behind the scenes. I’m not always thrilled to read about the political and marking side of content and art creation, but it is something to think about. I would love to learn more about projection mapping but not for advertising or marketing purposes. There is always that side of art creation where you have to start thinking about profiting or making a living as an artist but wow does it really F up the work that we produce. I’ll just be honest I 100% believe that once creators start to monetize their work it becomes worse. I have felt that way as an artist myself and think about it as I look at other people’s work. I came to college wanting to study lighting design (although I have always enjoyed the tech behind it more) but after going through the past few semesters I have found out that I do not want to be an artist as a career path. I don’t think that you can put deadlines on creativity and also when you start to monetize art… the art suffers. I would love to learn how to do projection mapping but I would not want to utilize it in the way they are speaking about it in this article
