Something Wanda Whiteside said was that she is not taking the easy road by doing a small show and she is taking the risks. I think that is great. There seems to be a trend that as theatre companies reopen they are doing these smaller shows, or they are doing really well known shows to get more audience members to come and see them. But she is doing neither of those with this 14 person cast of a new show by a local playwright. I think something that is so important is when returning to theatre is producing stories that are important to you. Telling stories you care about and ones that you want to share are much easier to do than stories you don’t relate to or aren’t passionate about. And something we’re seeing is that it is hard for theatre makers to go back into this industry because of how long it has been, so it is more important than ever to tell stories that people are passionate about sharing.
