Unemployed in Rhode Island: A visitor services manager shares story

Business Insider: Before the pandemic, I worked for the Providence Warwick Convention and Visitors Bureau. I'd been there for four years, first as the director of finance and administration and then as visitor services manager.

It was just devastating when the pandemic hit, since the CVB is a not-for-profit and funded primarily by hotel taxes. As a private 501(c)(6), they didn't qualify for the Payroll Protection Program and were excluded from the loan forgiveness opportunity.
