Virginia Opera is all about Stayin' Alive

DC Metro Theater Arts: With live performances shut down since March because of the COVID-19 pandemic, artists unemployed, and income streams disrupted, performing arts organizations continue to face the hardest of times. Virginia Opera (VO), a regional opera company based in Norfolk that regularly performs at George Mason University, has created an alternative fall initiative, the Stayin’ Alive virtual showcase, designed to keep the company connected with its audience and to provide opportunities for young singers in its Emerging Artists program.

This is pretty cool. I have been hearing a lot lately about “bubbles” and bubbles in all kinds of ways. They are quite great ways of being able to continue working for those who require the need of other people around in close distances. I often hear about them with regards to sports teams. Entertainment, Virginia Opera is doing something cool here where they incorporated the Bubble to create performances. Although it seems like a waste as they are still performing via video and it sounds like it is being shot for each individual. A bubble must have a huge effect on mental health as you have to sacrifice seeing family and friends in order to stay in quarantine with coworkers. What is the point of doing a bubble if you are just going to perform individually anyways? That is the big question here. This all seems great, what the article talks about, but is it worth it?
