LA: A Magical Journey For ‘The Elf on the Shelf’

by NoPro Newswire | Sep, 2020 | No Proscenium: The Guide To Everything Immersive: Good news: Christmas isn’t canceled this year.

On top of that: the trend of top East Coast theatre talent making their mark on LA isn’t canceled either. Wait. Stop. Is it still 2020?

Maybe it’s a holiday miracle, but the drive-thru immersive wave doesn’t look to be stopping with Spooky Season.

Nothing can truly keep the most wonderful time of the year down! The holiday season is the magical pick-me-up that a great deal of people look forward to all year long, so it is thrilling to see that a drive-thru Christmas spectacular will take place no matter what other cards 2020 deals them. The concept of a Christmas spectacular drive-thru is reminiscent of driving around town looking at your neighbors holiday lights with your family, but competing neighbors will stand no chance against the brilliant technicians and designers that will make Christmas come early to L.A. in the coming months. Setting up the outdoor spectacular is a great way to socially distance the teams that are working on the project, and will give many technicians work after a very long hiatus. Its also exciting to know that many Halloween themed drive-thrus are popping up in major cities, and I wonder what other themed drive-thrus people can come up with if theatre and film are still unable to launch into production.

You know, there is Irony in change. It seems like we had just recently gotten rid of drive in movies and the likes with the occasional one popping up here and there as a temporary event. Now, all I hear about is how theatre is indeed coming to you by having you drive to a drive in and watch through your car windshield. Its socially distanced and acceptable this way and you still get to attend some sort of theatrical piece. This is all to say that I do not think they really should have left to begin with and that this article speaks about a company who has an interesting idea for Christmas stories this year. It seems that every year prior it is always The Nutcracker and A Christmas Carol or equivalent story with another name. This is a new story and idea to me which makes me want to see it more than I might normally desire. I won’t be in Los Angeles to see it, but I will be interested to read any reviews that make their way to me.
