#WeMakeEvents Commences Day of Action
TPi: As unemployment soars, 25 countries join together to represent over 30 million workers in the worldwide events industry as part of the #WeMakeEvents campaign’s global day of action planned for 30 September
This is a really great initiative! I strongly believe the government should be stepping in to help the arts workers who have been out of work for months now. This article brought up a few questions for me. It seems to assert that governments “don’t know what's going on.” That they “don’t understand what events contribute to the world, financially, spiritually and emotionally.” But I genuinely believe this is the ONLY thing most people understand. I would much sooner accept that governments know exactly what is going on and exactly how dire the situation is (they were the ones that closed down the theaters after all) but simply have no means, plan for, or desire to provide aid. Will an awareness campaign help convince governments who have been silent thus far to suddenly take action? Again, I stand in full support of this campaign, I am just doubtful of any real outcome, sadly.
