PART TWO - Building A New Gem at Auburn University: The Gogue Performing Arts Center
Wenger | J.R. Clancy: From the very beginning, the team at Auburn University knew the 85,000-square-foot space would require superior acoustics. This forward-thinking would ensure the Gogue Center’s 1,202-seat Woltosz Theatre could accommodate every type of performance, and that each experience would leave audiences wanting more.

This new theater at Auburn University looks absolutely stunning in my opinion. I love the shape of the theater. Having the balcony be as curved as it is seems like it would make for great viewing angles. On top of that, it seems like the designers and user of the space did an enormous amount of forward thinking when designing the space. One of the great benefits of this are the acoustics. Wenger seems tohave gone above in beyond in this sense as Todd says, "Mark and the Wenger team were willing to customize the shell to address key acoustical requirements that our office considers important." On top of working to make sure the acoustics were as perfect as they could be, the Wenger team also worked to ensure the shell worked with, and even complimented the design of the space. Something that is just as important as the acoustics themselves.
This new theatre is amazing. The space looks beautiful as well as functional. The intense planning of the space to be multifaceted is a true feat and is accomplished in some pretty fantastic ways. The acoustics alone took lots of planning and I am sure that they will be absolutely worth it. The way that the team managed to create such a technologically advanced and multi purpose space is wonderful and the fact that the shell fits almost seamlessly into the existing space pays tribute to the obvious effort and planning that went into creating this amazing new theatre.
