Meet the Star of Quibi's Show Combining Floral Design With Dance
Dance Magazine: You may know Maurice Harris from his Bloom & Plume floral designs and recent Microsoft commercials, or maybe you frequent his Bloom & Plume coffee shop in Los Angeles. Most recently, Harris hosts "Centerpiece" on Quibi, and it's hard to miss him dancing his way through the series.

I have heard mixed and mostly negative reviews of the content produced on Quibi. I have not downloaded the service or viewed any Quibi episodes myself, but it seems that the budget of many shows was sunk into celebrity names over quality writing or creating quality content for 15-ish minute segments. However I love the idea Maurice Harris presents in his show, and I think it is a concept that fits well to a 15 minute format. I already adore plants, flowers, and botanical sculpting as an art and I love to see it get more mainstream attention. While live floral pieces are inherently influenced and shaped by their short lifespan, I had not really considered how that aspect of time ties botanics to dance. Harris is correct with that association – both art forms are short term, and I think both also have their own near-magically beauty because of that ephemeral nature.
