This article statistically proves what people have been talking about these past few weeks. We are all traumatized or going to be traumatized by this pandemic. I feel the same way as 44% of the respondents of the survey. I would be scared to attend public events and be in crowds after this crisis. I was talking to my friends about concerts the other day and I just felt so uneased during the whole conversation because the idea of a concert induced fear. Events and big crowds feel WRONG right now. I’m sure that I’m not the only one who feels this and I worry how it will affect the entertainment industry in the future. I worry for our mental wellbeing as a society and the economy. No doubt, things will be different for the next few years - businesses will still be recovering from the covid-19 pandemic, our mindsets and attitude towards disease will be changed. The film and theater industry ened to be ready to take a big hit beyond this crisis and I genuinely don’t know what we’re going to do about it.
As we move further into this quarantine and pandemic situation, I wonder about this more and more. Not just the financial repercussions of Corona, but the cultural impact. How will this affect our willingness to go out and see each other? Will there be new, long-lasting social norms to adjust to? Obviously, this pandemic is something that will change our outlook on public health and epidemic responses, but I'm just nervous about how this will affect us in social situations. It makes sense that for a few months, or even a year, after the quarantine is lifted, people will be nervous to go out and there will be financial repercussions, but I wonder about after that. Hopefully we can go back to normal at some point, but I think it's very possible that this will change our culture for good. More selfishly, I can't wait for movie theaters to reopen. I love films and especially seeing them in the theater, so hopefully I can do that again soon.
