Coronavirus quarantine is sending college grads home: What to know

www.usatoday.com: When I first moved back home to my parents' house last spring after graduating from college, I was worried about two things: Having other people judge me and losing my independence.

For this year's class of college grads, coronavirus has added another layer of stress.

Even though I am not a college grad (yet) I also struggle with being back at home after having about 8 months of independence and freedom. I got a taste of what being an adult is, and how to have my own schedule at school. With dorms closed and school online, I am back in my childhood home and room with my family. I love my family and cherish the extra time I get to spend with them, however, sometimes it is hard to manage my schedule with their own. Every night we watch television together or play card games. The expectation is to spend the evenings together, yet, I sometimes have classes in the evenings or social engagements with my friends. I cannot always be with them even though I do live with them. I think that is the hardest part about all of this, is finding a new normal that combines the independence I had and family time that is expected of me. The tips in this article are very helpful for those of us who moved back home. Though I don't mind being back home, I cannot wait to go back to campus.
