Christopher Ashley on how La Jolla Playhouse is improvising in the time of COVID-19
The San Diego Union-Tribune: March 31 was to have been opening night of the La Jolla Playhouse-born musical “Diana” on Broadway at the Longacre Theatre in New York City. The show, of course, did not go on, and Christopher Ashley, its director, had since flown back home to San Diego.

I had to talk about the one San Diego article this week. It is really bizarre to hear about a show that started here and was in previews on Broadway did not end up opening due to the virus. It was nice to hear that they were able to celebrate on Zoom, as I think other shows that were going to open on Broadway did as well. Seventy five people in one meeting is definitely a lot of people to celebrate with on video chat. The perspective he has after working on the Broadway musical Come From Away is very interesting to read about here, a show that centered on the compassion of people for one another. I have also enjoyed knowing what the La Jolla Playhouse is doing to let people in on some of their previous history. I am looking forward to what they have coming up next.
