Recently, Dewalt has been out doing itself. A few years ago we started seeing the first battery powered nailers, but most were finish brad and pin nailers. Before that almost all nailers were pneumatic, or they were powered by an air compressor. Other than that, there were a few that were powered by a small CO2 cartridge. The issue with those powered by air compressors, is that air compressors are large, heavy, hard to transport, and clunky as can be. Working in homes people often left their compressor in their car and would run massive lengths of hose into the home but this too is clunky. On top of this, you need power to run an air compressor. The new Dewalt battery powered framing nailer has again, changed the game allowing you two work off the grid on large scale projects. When I need one, I will definitely buy this nailer over a pneumatic one if money allows.

I originally decided to click on this article because it has been a while since I have done a tool review comment. I do not think I have seen a lot of tools on the Greenpage this year so far, or else I have not been paying attention and clicking on them. Anyway, reading through the article, I think my favorite feature from DeWalt's cordless framing nailer is that you can pick between single driving and bump driving. When you are doing a series of fasteners all in a row it gets really tiresome to fire, pull the nailer back up to release the safety, and then replace it back onto the material. With the bump driving feature this annoyance is completely eliminated, you can just rapid fire down a line, saving you time and patience. I liked seeing pictures of the framing nailer in action, from pictures sent in from customers. A lot of them look like some cool action shots. Kind of goofy, but if they're happy with the tool then let them take as many pictures as they like.

I will have to say that this tool is amazing. Not just this individual tool but the whole line of DeWalt cordless nail guns are pretty amazing to work with. During the summer we often have to do work on stage and in a time frame that doesn't allow us to get all the things run to be able to use standard pneumatic tools. This line, more particularly the narrow crown and finish nail gun help greatly in keeping everyone moving forward. Simply the reduction in the number of things that one needs to grab in order to get the job done is an enormous help. It makes the job even better when you have to be working in a lift, thus giving you an enormous amount of freedom in how you approach the task. More and more companies are coming out with tools similar to this that as long as they are in your particular battery option make a great addition to your tool arsenal.

Oh, how I miss my tool reviews. Sadly, this is probably going to be the last one I post during my time at CMU. If I could pick any post to be my last, it would be this here framing nailer. Not only does it offer extreme power with the 20 volt 4AH battery, but it also allows the user not to be tethered to an air tank. I have talked to many people on job sites around the country, and they always seem to say that their favorite tool is the cordless framing nailer. With the technology continuing to improve consumers can rely more on the cordless tool market. The simple fact is that cordless tools are the way of the future and I am very excited to one day pick a tool manufacture and start collecting all the latest and greatest cordless tools that come on the market… Including a framing nailer just like this.
