Midnight Rider Case: CSX Wants New Trial; Sarah Jones Family Fights It
Deadline: CSX is asking for a new trial after losing a civil case this past summer to the parents of Sarah Jones who was killed on a GA train trestle in 2014 while filming the Greg Allman biopic Midnight Rider, and the deceased camera assistant’s family filed a brief earlier this week to try to stop it.

Ah ha, so here we have more information about the transportation company (CSX). Well, kind of. This article is telling me that CSX lost the initial lawsuit against Sarah Jones' parents who filed a civil suit against them as well as members of the film making crew. At first I did not really agree with CSX being a defendant, and I still do not, but the defense that was offered up is a rough one to throw at the jury. To suggest that Sarah's death was her own fault is a bolt and misguided legal move. No juror is going to agree with that. On one side of the room they see two grieving parents, and on the other, they see the representatives of corporations with little to no attachment to the deceased. Still though, I am not seeing how this is the train company's fault when they expressly forbade the film crew to be on the tracks.
