Metallica's Show Director, Dan Braun talks WorldWired Tour

www.taittowers.com: Dan Braun, Metallica’s Show Director, sat down with Mia Tinari, Global Head of Marketing + Communications at TAIT, and dished on how Michael Angelo and Vince Lombardi influence him every day, why the word “ego” has no place in this business, what inspired the design elements for Metallica’s WorldWired Tour, and what James Hetfield’s reaction was to seeing the drones on opening night.

I had to look up the video of Metallica's Moth Into Flame with the drones, and it is as mentioned in the article, super awesome. The drone movements are cool but also do not clash with Metallica's performance. The kinetic cubes are equally awesome in that they make one element and contributes to enjoying the performance. The show director position seems to be an interesting one because it seems to incorporate all kinds of design elements to one. He takes many of the different traditional designers' and directors' duties in that he conceives the concept of the scenic elements and other engineers work around the concept to make it happen. I wonder whether this kind of position has been common or it's fairly new. With the newly available technologies and space capacities, there seems to be almost infinite possibility for this industry to rise up. It is also great to know that someone with well established reputation stress the importance of teamwork rather than feeding into his own ego.
