Seven Guitars performed by the School of Drama and Directed by Cameron Knight was absolutely breathtaking. As the first performance that I was able to see in the Chosky, it really set the precedence and reminded me why I fell in love with theatre in the first place. The acting was impeccable and the timing in both the comedic and dramatic moments was spot-on. The stage business was also extremely realistic and pulled me more into the realness of the story and the setting of the Hill district of Pittsburgh. I thoroughly enjoyed this performance and am excited to see what else the School of Drama will produce.
Seven Guitars was an incredible production, and it was such a great show to start off the main stage series this year. It is also great that we're finally performing an August Wilson play. In Susan Tsu's class last year I had to do a report on the Hill District, so it was really cool to see this world that I had only seen in old black and white photos brought to life on the stage. Every part of the performance was great, and the design team, director, performers and dramaturg all did a fantastic job. The production was so cohesive, and watching the show I forgot that I was sitting in the Chosky.
