Cinema Audio Society Presents 48th Annual Awards

Below the Line: The Cinema Audio Society announced the winners of the 48th Annual CAS Awards for outstanding achievement in sound mixing this evening at an event in the Crystal Ballroom of the Millennium Biltmore Hotel in Los Angeles. KTLA entertainment reporter Sam Rubin served as MC for the event.

I am really glad that the Cinema Audio Society has awards since sound is such a critical part of films. It found it interesting to note, though, that the CAS awards are awarded to both film and television mixing. I wonder if this was a size issue; that the Society found their strength would be greater with both film and television. Or are sound mixing and recording techniques and styles so similar that they would share the same society? At least when the two groups got together they could decide on a single name.
