Clear-Com connects Jeopardy! and Wheel of Fortune teams
AV Magazine: When US TV game shows Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy! needed to upgrade their wireless communications, they turned to Clear-Com’s FreeSpeak system.
Chris Savage, technical manager and project lead for both shows, oversaw the system design and installation. “Both shows share a control room but have stages that are effectively miles apart due to walls, pathways, and even parking lots,” he says.

Communications systems are a prime example of something that everyone expects to "just work". Because of this I feel that they often fly under the radar compared to other theatrical technologies. The only time that someone mentions the communications system is when its first being set up or when something goes wrong. You almost never hear anyone talk about how amazing it is that they can clearly hear their cues being called over headset. But if a cue is missed due to poor audio quality everyone notices. For shows like Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy! I'd imagine that having properly functioning headsets is doubly important. While outcomes can be anticipated and planned for, the non-scripted nature of these shows means that technicians likely often need to take on the fly instruction. Headsets also have the added consideration that not everyone that uses them will be focused on sound. I think that more than almost any other technology on stage headsets need to be designed to be operated by those with less technical backgrounds.
