The New York Times: The playwright August Wilson, a Pulitzer Prize winner for “Fences” and “The Piano Lesson,” drew inspiration from the piece for “Joe Turner’s Come and Gone,” a standout in his 10-play Century Cycle, focused on the residents of the predominantly Black Hill District in Pittsburgh.
