Trump Gutted the Kennedy Center. A Tour Guide Wants You to See It Anyway.
The New York Times: Some days no one turns up for a tour at all. Most days there are only a few, including those curious about all the reports of ruin. When people do come, what do they see?

Art is in many ways a culmination of everything that surrounds it. A tour of a theater under siege such as the John F. Kennedy Center tells a story almost as poignant as the shows it once hosted. A battle for control over what the Kennedy Center is and what the current administration wishes it to be. I'm glad that the tour guides are still working so the public can see what has become of the Kennedy Center. A building of life and culture abandoned in the name of renovation. It's hard to see what has happened to the Kennedy Center as anything but retaliation for the center's leadership standing up to Trump early in his term. The new name bolted on as a flag of conquest. If it was done after renovations had been completed (or even started) I could understand this action being done in thanks for the renovation. But as it stands it feels as if Trump placed his name onto the Kennedy Center to show that he can.
