I think that this is an interesting approach to allowing theatrical professionals to further their education in theatre while still getting on the job experience. As with any creative discipline theatre relies on the skills that one builds while working a show. But not every show covers every skill set that a technician may want to learn. In this way I think that having an online course such as this is helpful. It seeks to fill in the gaps rather than replace traditional practical experience. While in many ways this seems like the perfect solution to theatre degrees I don't think that a similar system would work for undergrad degrees. Art college is a time to try bold new techniques without risking your career if it doesn't turn out how you hope. Masters students don't need as many safety nets because they already have the practical experience to know how to get a show back on track if something goes wrong.
