Studson Sets Its Sights on New Safety Glasses

Pro Tool Reviews: Safety glasses are one of the most important pieces of PPE on the jobsite. Eye protection is no joke, as one slip-up can result in permanent disability. Studson has recently shifted our gaze away from their excellent safety helmets and announced the expansion of its safety glasses lineup with two new models. I’ll show you what to expect so you can decide if you should look their way.

I have to wear safety glasses quite often in the shop and when working in my garage at home and I’m not gonna lie they are terrible and kind of scare me to use and there’s almost no point in me wearing the ones I do. I really like the look of the Studson Guardians and they look like sunglasses but also I feel like you would lose some of your peripheral because of the solid glasses instead of them being completely clear like most glasses. I also feel like the UV protection is useful but rarely needed since most shop work is done inside. I do really like the Studson Watchman’s though because they are completely clear and have quite a bit of protection while still being comfortable on the nose and having your entire range of vision. Personally I would get the Watchman’s especially because they are cheaper. As someone who won’t have to use them every day there’s not really a point in getting the really expensive ones in my opinion.

I always have issues with safety glasses. I’m really good at wearing them on my forehead, and really terrible at actually keeping them on my face. I really struggle to find safety glasses that actually fit my face, I often find that they’re too wide for my head, and as a result, don’t sit comfortably behind my ears. One of my biggest issues that results from this is the constant feeling that my glasses are about to fall off, or them actually falling off when I bend over or do stuff as I’m working. As a result of this, I wear them on my forehead, which obviously is not protecting me very well, but at least they stay there. What I really need is a pair of safety glasses that are smaller so that they actually fit my face. I couldn’t figure out if Studson offers thin/wide sizes of these safety glasses, but I’m always looking for a pair of glasses I actually like.

There has been a large push for stylish workwear inside and outside of the construction industry. I think these sunglasses push for that stylish audience that have the money to buy a more premium product and maybe or maybe not need to replace them as often as someone who is building houses day in and day out. Although some other brands are definitely more expensive with costs ranging into the two hundred dollar range this pair seems to be a more reasonable mid price. I still think these are more into the stylish range of glasses rather than the bulk options you can get from anywhere between one to fifteen dollars per pair in bulk. But if it makes more people wear safety sunglasses there is a huge bonus of less people getting their eyes poked out and needing to seek medical attention because they were working without them. Hopefully they are made with a high quality for the price.
