I was reading the reviews for Ragtime coming back to Broadway and now I really really want to see it. I haven’t caught this production yet but it sounds like people are loving how powerful it feels, especially with everything going on in the world right now. It’s crazy how a show that’s been around this long can still feel so relevant. I saw a few reviews saying the design is simpler this time but honestly that kind of sounds better, like it lets the story and music stand out more. The cast is getting a ton of praise too, and the orchestra reviews seem great which doesn’t surprise me because the music is beautiful. Ragtime has always been one of those shows that hits emotionally every time, so I can only imagine what it’s like seeing it live. Definitely going to see it when I visit New York next month.
