Pure Beamage: LD Marcus Jessup Deploys Claypaky Ultimo Sharpy For Playboi Carti's Tour
www.limelightwired.com: It’s been a massive year for lighting designer Marcus Jessup and Playboi Carti. We first caught up with Jessup, founder of Moving Through Space (MTS), this spring at Rolling Loud LA, where Carti headlined just days after releasing a new album and surprised fans with a guest appearance from The Weeknd. Not long after, Carti joined The Weeknd’s global tour as the opening act, bringing Jessup’s lighting design to some of the largest venues in the world. This fall, Carti is back out on his own headlining arena run with Jessup once again designing the show.

It’s really inspiring but also just really cool to see the creative works people make. Especially with a big venue, I loved the use of lighting all across the arena. It makes the experience so immersive and definitely feels otherworldly with the fixtures moving and strobing happening at once. I also liked how the color pallette seems just to be white, I think it goes well along with the pyrotechnics happening on stage. It also helps with the effects being more focused on movement than color. I think what makes this so visually pleasing is the fact that the use of just white can really help you notice how the lighting’s movement and its geometry. I ended up looking up Marcus Jessup to see more of what he has created. Jessup has created some visually pleasing works for many big artists, it’s no wonder why he did so well for Playboi Carti.
