Film & Nerdy Fashion Combine for Vogue World: Hollywood Fashion Show

Nerdist: On October 26, Vogue made the Paramount Studios lot in Hollywood literally ooze with glamour and style when they presented the Vogue World 2025 Fashion Show. This show follows Vogue Worlds in New York, London, and Paris. But if you’re going to do one in Los Angeles? It has to celebrate the film industry.

I think its very cool that diffrent aspects of the film industry and the fashion industry came together for this event. There is a lot of overlap in the people that work in fashion and costuming, both theatrical and for film and TV. It makes sense that because this fashion show was in a location that the fashion industry is extremely impacted by the presence of the film industry they would tie them together. There is a long history of the fashion world in Hollywood revolving partially around the movies being produced there, with big name stars and red carpet events being some of the big events and places where fashion designers display their work. Appreciating the costuming of a movie in a context outside of that movie is also very cool. I liked that models were wearing costumes made for movies on a runway, giving us a new view of the pieces.

I really loved looking at all the pictures and videos from the Vogue World 2025 Fashion Show at Paramount Studios! All the designs were so cool and really fun to see. What stood out to me about this show was how it didn’t treat costume design as just “clothes,” but as stories with meaning and memory behind them. Seeing Teyana Taylor, Danai Gurira, and Angela Bassett bring the spirit of Wakanda to life again in Ruth E. Carter’s designs was amazing, especially knowing how deeply Black Panther impacted people and representation. Bianca Balti’s Dune look really showed how costumes can create entire worlds before a single word is spoken. And the old Hollywood tribute with Nicole Kidman and Doja Cat felt so magical in that exact location. Hunter Schafer wearing Tilda Swinton’s Orlando costume was one of my top favorites. It felt bold, emotional, and beautifully fluid. The whole show is just fabulous!

So many of these outfits are so gorgeous and cool and I am so jealous I can’t wear them. I adore clothing thats outside of the current norm and this really helps me confirm that in my mind. I mean like, I just think that we as a society had much better and cool looking clothing in older ages. I feel that of course with modern times it important to try and make sure that articles of clothing aren’t health hazards like old style corsets, but I cannot lie and say that I don’t adore corsets. Especially when worn in a more masculine sense. My main point is that I love extravgant/unique outfits like shown at this showcase and I wish it were just regular fashion to be completely honest. I think a lot of people would be able to better express themselves and it would definitely make life a lot more interesting.
