Review: NOISES OFF Knocks Itself Out at Pittsburgh Public Theater

www.broadwayworld.com: I must admit right off the bat, when the Public announced Noises Off as its season opener, I smiled but I did not cheer. I saw it during its run a decade ago, and felt relatively certain that once you've seen that sort of farce done well once, you've seen it; how much can you really add to or detract from Michael Frayn's farce-to-end-all-farces anyway?

I saw an ad for Noises Off one day when I was scrolling through instagram and I was somewhat interested in attending. Reading this review has encouraged me to go watch it even more now. It’s really great to read such a positive review about a local show. I have never really seen much local theatre unless it was to go support some of my friends. I really like how they put some of the cast in perspective by comparing them to well known characters or actors. I’ve never seen any of these cast members perform so being able to get an idea of what their performance feels like by thinking about roles I already know about helped me understand what to expect. Finally, I loved hearing about the design elements, reading about the famous revolving set made me really interested in the show. I always look forward to the design elements the most when watching a performance, and reading how the crowd is going wild over the set makes me really want to see it for myself.
