'Michael Jackson ONE' is still a Cirque dazzler after a decade
www.usatoday.com: Michael Jackson is still the G.O.A.T. – at least in Vegas.
As the centerpiece of the last music-themed Cirque du Soleil show on the Strip, Jackson’s music and dance moves – seismic stylistic innovations in the ‘70s and ‘80s – are regularly celebrated in “Michael Jackson ONE.”

I was fortunate enough to see Michael Jackson ONE in vegas a couple of years ago. To be so honest, I forgot it was a cirque show until I read this article. It is not your standard cirque show, it is themed and has a lot of aspects that musicals have. There is a lot of dance and it is flashy like a concert but it still does have aspects of acrobatics. I thought it was the perfect mix of familiar (the michael jackson classics), with the flash that you would expect from a vegas show, with the stellar performance you would expect from a cirque show. I am so surprised that the show has been running for nearly a decade. It is so awesome to see live performances be so successful for so long. I also think that the venue staying the same is truly a testament to its success. I am curious to know if any of the production team has been there all ten years.
This article is so cool because a Michael Jackson Cirque show in Vegas sounds like the perfect mix of music and performance. I love that they are combining acrobatics with his songs because that feels so fitting for how big his stage presence always was. The idea of seeing something like Thriller or Billie Jean performed with Cirque level visuals sounds amazing. I can already picture all the lights and dancers and crazy effects. I think it’s interesting how they are trying to honor his legacy while also making something new that feels modern. Sometimes those kinds of tribute shows can feel too over the top but this one sounds like it could actually capture his energy in a really fun way. Even if people aren’t huge fans of MJ I think the show would still be a wild experience to see live just for the performance and visuals alone.
