Yet again, another example of how live entertainment is inseparable from the world in which it resides. Though this can often be seen as an escape from reality, diving into the theatrical worlds we create and experience, the reality of the political and economic world in which live entertainment is made can never be ignored. The situation is unfortunate in and of itself, and the fact that the government shutdown continues to have this much of an effect on things that seem arbitrary, such as the case with Ticketmaster, only furthers the detriment. What’s more trivializing is the fact that instances such as this are low priority compared to the other things the government will need to attend to once the shutdown concludes. While I don’t think this case should necessarily become a top priority, I still hope it is acknowledged and motions are made to move forward with it promptly.
Well, that sucks. Trump instead of giving ICE an unlimited budget during this shutdown should give the FTC some so it can prevent issues like these from showing up. Ticketmaster is constantly scamming people and only making money for their shareholders by causing those who love these artists, spending their life savings to see them, scalper prices or wayyy too much ticket fees. It honestly should be a top issue for Trump to solve, because regardless where you are in the world, you’re going to have to deal with ticket master and all it’s issues. As soon as this government shutdown ends, I hope the FTC goes full force at ticket master dealing with this, making sure the scam ends now. If they don’t, I am sure the EU will eventually step in similar to how they did with apple and it’s lighting cable, forcing them to change to USB-C.
