Reading the article about emerging trends in broadcasting, I couldn't help but reflect on how the rapid integration of artificial intelligence and automation might mirror the innovations in other fields, such as drama and art. The conversation about AI-driven content production and delivery struck a chord with me, particularly how automation is enabling more efficient workflows and freeing up creative resources. It made me think about how AI could play a significant role in theatrical production. Imagine automated lighting systems or soundscapes designed to shift dynamically in real-time, enhancing the audience’s emotional experience in ways we’ve never seen before. The intersection of technology and performance could lead to a future where stage productions are not limited to human capability, but enhanced by machines that intuitively respond to the performance itself.

This article was hard to read for me because each perspective on it read like it was attempting to make AI seem wholly positive. The prospects that the article laid out; reducing environmental impacts, making production faster and more efficient, and enhancing algorithms for more personalized experiences, could all be positive. However, while the article delivers these outcomes with rose-tinted glasses on it is easy to read between the lines and see that AI is truly going to be able to replace certain jobs and aspects of work. For me, as an artist who has quickly had to start putting the “anti-AI filter” over my work and become very wary of art that looks like its in the style of people I look up to, but is actually AI generated using their names, I am wary of the impact that AI could have on my life. Beyond art, I worry about my family members and my future job security: AI is constantly advancing and there’s no reason to believe that one day it won’t be able to design an achievable costume from reading a script, so why should I believe someone will hire me to do the same thing? All in all, the article (despite being written as a largely positive thing, worries me.
