www.avinteractive.com: Front Pictures’ Screenberry media server has been used for a projection mapping show on the world’s largest 3D amorphous structure.
Korean multimedia integrators SoundKoreaENG and METASPACE deployed a Screenberry Atlas x8 for the show on the Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP) at the Seoul Light DDP 2024 Autumn Festival.

Projection mapping is truly such a cool technology. From just the historical shows depicting the history of Vincent Vango to allowing new artists to spread their work in new ways. These experiences are cheap and easy to access. But also are some of the coolest experiences I've had. I also love the growth in this way of design because some of my personal favorite scenery effects are assisted with projection mapping. For example in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child when they went back in time the entire set turned into a pool and it rippled. This is something we cannot physically do but with this new technology it is allowing us a whole new tool kit to achieve the looks desired. Over the years finding projectors that are bright enough to shoot though stage light sunlight or just bright environments this technology is not able to be utilized. So I am personally excited as to how we collaborate to produce these new looks and effects.
The innovative use of projections to create art and new kinds of live entertainment is a fascinating field. The increasing precision of content mapping allows video and media designers to do really unique and formally impossible things; it opens up so many storytelling possibilities. It’s incredible how they were able to map all of the thousands of tiles, especially when each tile is completely unique, and it makes me wonder how long that took. I think it’s really cool how they can combine digital modeling and projection mapping to do most of the work beforehand. I also wonder how much time they had on site to set up, and also how long it took to strike. I hope that I will be able to see something like this projection show in the near future, and I am excited for the implications that the advancement of this kind of technology will have on the entertainment industry.
The day to day use of projection work and projection mapping is really fascinating. The fact that we’ve figured out how to bend and distort images in the right way to project a correct image on such abstract shapes is amazing. Even then the fact that the projectors are strong enough to do it outside when the lighting can be inconsistent and the weather could affect this is really interesting to think about. The quality of the tech work itself is massively impressive and the powerful equipment they’re using for this festival is just as wondrous itself. The application of this sort of technology in a theatrical setting would be quite amazing to see in a live performance. Strong and effective use of projections is always so fantastic in productions, I wish high quality equipment was more accessible to regional theatres so we could see more usage of excellent projections off broadway and outside of lighting festivals like these. I wish I could see this lighting festival in person as it looks absolutely beautiful.
Currently, in Seoul, South Korea, there is some amazing projection and LED technology being debuted. These insane mapped projections use 26 different projectors, and is over 720 feet long. This is super cool, all of the lighting and technology that was put into creating this super cool projection device. This art is super incredible and very reminiscent of Times Square and all of the huge billboards. All of these projections look really detailed and realistic, and I highly recommend looking at the photos of this amazing projector. I also high key want to visit just to see these projections in the flesh and in action. The company that created these projectors is called “Screenberry” and they also created an audio output for this projection project. This actually looks absolutely amazing, insane, and fantastic and I genuinely hope I get to see it in person at least once in my life.
