ProSoundWeb: The summer I turned 16, I got my first real industry job (on short notice…) as a stagehand at the Confederation Center Theatre, in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, where I grew up. I had enjoyed the work, mostly doing “changeovers” between the three plays that were running in repertory, with the occasional show-call thrown in, all for the princely sum of $4.53 an hour.

It was super interesting to learn about Ike Zimbel's introduction to the theatre world and how they have grown and learned more over time. Especially in a highly comedic way such as this. As someone coming from a lower budget high school, where we often had to put more work in to make do with things, I found the image of a high and mighty tech person driving off because he didn't know how to run tech at a theatre with a low budget, and thus got a bad tech review, to be extremely funny. I also really enjoyed learning about how Ike Zimbel solved the problems he ran into at that theatre. Goes to show how important ingenuity can be as a skill.
