I really love reading about PixMob’s work each year because they really do such interesting things that it feels like everything they do just gets bigger and better all the time. This Super Bowl show seemed to probably be one of their biggest jobs yet with what sounds like almost 55,000 LED’s in different places throughout the stadium. I enjoy watching how this completely ties together the whole stadium by getting the whole audience involved in the lighting design and really creating one huge cohesive experience for everyone involved. I thought the choice to have LED’s in the cardboard cutouts gave a sense of life to these really dystopian and strange pieces scattered around the stadium. It was such a strange year in terms of not having an audience, so I see why PixMob tried to bring some life to the stadium and make it look less unnatural by adding light and movement to areas devoid of just that. I really enjoyed PixMob’s addition to the show this year and cannot wait to see what they do next.
