‘Untouchable’ Filmmaker on Harvey Weinstein, Bryan Singer

Variety: Even after new allegations surfaced earlier this week against Bryan Singer — who has repeatedly denied all accusations throughout the years — news broke that the director would keep his job helming the upcoming film “Red Sonja,” despite swift backlash from the reports of sexual misconduct.

This article touches on some really strong points about sexual harassment/assault allegations within the entertainment industry. Harvey Weinstein was ostracized from the entertainment industry very recently, but he has allegations against him since he came into power within the industry. Bryan Singer is a renowned director, he’s done super hero film after super hero film. However, just because he has allegations against him that are mainly young men and not women, it’s maddening that the allegations are being ignored and that he’s not facing repercussions. He has been facing allegations of sexual assault/harassment continuously in his career, the fact that him simply stating that these are lies gives him the power to continue working is really insane. The casting couch mentality of the older generation of mostly males within the entertainment industry needs to end. No one is untouchable, and to think that you are is utter bullshit. The Me Too movement is not over because we’re not hearing about it as much. It’s still prevalent and important. I hope that the people who were accusing Bryan Singer get to have their voices hear and for Singer to face justice.

From reading this article and other articles about Bryan Singer, I happen to disagree a little with Ella and the article about how this a homosexual case of abuse that it is being ignored by the industry. Yes, it is happening but I don't know how much the lack of response is because of it being a homosexual abuse situation or because the industry isn't changing, I feel like the #metoo movement isn't dying out but is less in the spotlight and so things are falling through the cracks. Yes, abuse towards women is getting more attention in general but I don't think this is the sole reason that Byran Singer isn't getting ousted in the same way of Harvey Weinstein. I think this similar to what has happened to a lot of people accused of sexual abuse in the entertainment industry. Sadly change is slow and I am not excusing what is happening with Bryan Singer. i just think that the ousting of Harvey Weinstein was taken a lot stronger for whatever reason. I see the point that is being made but from reading about other sexual abusers in the entertainment industry, Of course, I am just speculating in this comment and could be totally wrong. However, I take this position because the article does a great job of showing how what happened with Harvey Weinstein took a long time and the same thing is happening with Bryan Singer.
