Variety: Twentieth Century Fox executives looked around in 2013 and decided it was finally time for the historic studio to get into the theme park business.
Fox had seen Disney and Universal expand into Japan and China, slowly conquering the globe with their resort businesses. So they came up with a bold idea to grab a piece of the international tourism market by licensing Fox IP — including “Ice Age” and “Planet of the Apes” — to local resort developers in Dubai and Malaysia.

This situation seems like an absolute disaster. To put it lightly, I honestly do not think that this theme park project could have gone any worse than it did. Clearly, while Fox had the best intentions, Fox did not do its due diligence before beginning construction on the park. What doesn't make sense to me is how so much of the park got constructed and "completed" without higher ups at Fox could come to see the progress. Many of the issues presented seem like things that could have been caught early, for example, the missing emergency exit in one of the rides. All that being said, a lot of the finish work, like the bubbling paint and the patch work on the exterior of the mountain, may not have been able to be caught early. Theme park design and construction is something that has always been interesting to me, thus why this article jumped out at me. For this reason, I am completely astonished that this could happen to a company as big as Fox.
This sounds absolutely terrible, I would never ever go to this theme park even if it did open because I would be scared for my safety. I think that FOX made a slightly rash decision when they agreed to work with this company. It seems as though they decided to do this becuse of the success of Disney and those theme parks without enough thought. I give them credit because Disney does make a lot of profits from their parks and if the FOX one was successful a lot of money could be made. I hope that they are able to get out of this sticky situation and find a better developer for their project because I honestly wouldn't mind going to a FOX themed park. I love a lot of their movies and think it would be a fun thing to have but I would never want to go to a park that is at all like the one they described in this article.
