I have to praise Nemetschek's outstanding training guides, books, and various videos. They absolutely blow AutoCad away when it comes to end user training from first party sources. The best Vectorworks training guides come straight from Nemetschek employees and company draftsmen. The best AutoCad video tutorials come in the form of international (read: hard to understand) draftsmen posting videos that are scattered around Youtube. The wealth of reading material is also no small advantage over what is provided for AutoCad.
Honestly, in my transition from AutoCad to Vectorworks, I simply have found Vectorworks to be a ton more intuitive, especially when it comes to 3d modeling. It really is the same kind of difference between Windows & Mac. Vectorworks just works the first time! Once you can wade past the endless widgets and tool tips, Vectorworks just makes much more sense. I will say that AutoCad's command line is very powerful, but in the long run, memorizing hotkeys for Vectorworks is more efficient than typing in almost the whole word to access a command.
