I truly hope that I get a chance to see some of the films on campus. This is a wonderful development by the university and events similar to this should continue to be produced, with any luck by students. I had previously thought that CMU was merely being a sponsor and affiliate of the festival, but now that they are a important part and a venue, I feel that the school cares about this more than I thought, which is great. Now that we have this awesome opportunity at our school, I am starting to wonder what the film scene on campus is like? I feel like we do not hear much about one. I would also be curious to learn if we have a film major and if so if they are a part of it at all and what they could take away from the variety of films being shown at the festival?

I've only been to one film festival in my life and I remember having such a great experience. I recall there being a bunch of people, with an enormous amount of food and a gathering of directors that shared their thoughts about the films around. I wonder how different this film festival would be from the one I saw in Florida. If it's through the film club here on campus then it should be pretty good with all of the artistic students we have on this campus. However, I know that our film festival there were people who came from Nebraska to show their films and other places that aren't known for the their entertainment connections. But I think there will be a lot at the Carnegie Mellon one. Maybe I'll get the opportunity to retrieve 5 bucks and then go to the wonderful even. It seems like it would be a great experience.

This seems like a fun event to go to, so long of course we aren’t all busy with our daily activities of life in the theatre. I’ve never really participated or seen what a film festival is all about. I’m sure a film like this would be a great introduction into it all, and for there to be international recognition for the work that has been produced, shows how far that team of people have come. Everybody starts off small, but over time with enough prowess and determination, you can get to where this group of people who made this film become a product of something great. Of course, just like with most things that happen with this school, we must figure out a way to make time be on our sides, but that is not always the case, but we shall see how things go, and just maybe be able to watch a snippet of a film with international prowess.

Hi all! My name is Lauralei Kraski, and I am one of the CMU International Film Festival coordinators. Let me just say it is so wonderful to see students talking about us like this! I can personally say that one of the most rewarding moments for me in planning these events is when they are fun and valuable for students. We want to provide space for you all to explore, relax, and enjoy yourselves and not only that, but find what inspires you. It is so inspiring for me to see that our efforts are finding the students! We know how busy you all are- we are students too! And you all deserve so much the chance to escape the books and stress and remember that there is this huge world out there and even if you fail a test, or forget homework, or have to retake a class, or don't sleep for several months just to survive, the world is going to keep on being exciting and full of chances to be a part of it. I would love a chance to say hello to you all at the event tomorrow! If you come, just ask for me and say that you were one of the blog commenters, and I would love to welcome you myself. Thank you all again for reminding me what I work so hard for:)
