Bosch 12V Barrel Grip Compact Jig Saw JS120
coptool.com: Earlier this year we got a chance to try out the Bosch 12V Circular Saw (released in Europe not US) and we disappointed because we could not have imagined what use it could possibly have. We could not feel more opposite about the new Bosch 12V jig saw JS120 ($119, bare) we recently had the opportunity to demo. We are very happy to say this Bosch 12V saw will be the next release in the US.

Jig saws are my favorite fine-tuning tool and this one looks fantastic. I do prefer ones with an upper handle, especially for overhead cutting, but this lightweight saw, coming in at 3.3 pounds with the battery, doesn’t seem like it would be too cumbersome when using it in a weird reach situation. I am fearful, however, of the fact that it does run on batteries because of longevity issues that might arise. Saws that run on batteries typically don’t last the whole day of cutting they are needed for. The article doesn’t address this issue, other than that the saw is slightly better than its closest competitor. The article also claims that the barrel grip is good for upside down cuts, but I’m not sure how comfortable that would actually be. Overall, this saw looks pretty good and I’m sure after a test run I would have more faith in its usability.
