Tait creates 3D LED head for Robbie Williams’ stadium tour

standoutmagazine.co.uk: Tait’s pixel tablet technology has helped bring Robbie Williams’s head to life – the company is responsible for creating an LED integrated backdrop and 3D head for the singer’s Take The Crown European stadium tour, which opened in Dublin last month. Working alongside designers Mark Fisher, Ric Lipson and Willie Williams and production manager Wob Roberts, Tait created a 40.8 metre by 23.1 metre back wall, which was finished with screen-printed, gold polycarbonate panels.

This is really cool. New stage technologies are making performances more and more amazing. Before too long holograms will become a part of theater and they might even take the jobs of some set designers. I love light design but I like doing the whole process of lights in general. At a small theater, I could put together a plot, hang it, program it, and then run those shows. I realize that in even average sized theaters those jobs cannot fall only to one person but I still loved being part of it all. With all these new technologies, light design will no longer be the part of one person but the job of teams and teams of people.
