NYTimes.com: It all began when my husband brought home a copy of the 2010 coffee table book “My Passion for Design” by Ms. Streisand — Barbra to her fans, myself included — from our local library, thinking it might be an entertaining successor to the books of Dorothy Rodgers (the wife of the composer Richard), exacting displays of gracious living at the intersection of show business and real estate. Dorothy Rodgers’s “My Favorite Things” and “The House in My Head” are not only precursors, they could also be alternate titles for Barbra’s tome.
