I love this article because everything he says is surprisingly true. I had never thought about theatre like that, but looking at the training for theatre versus business is very interesting. I found his point that how business students learn versus how theatre students learn very compelling. He says that business students' projects are all theoretical and rarely carried out in the real world. On the contrary, theatre students are constantly starting new projects even before old ones are finished and constantly finishing projects. One student could probably do between one and twenty shows a year depending on the school and course of study!
I think that the takeaway from this article is that businesspeople should stop dismissing the arts are superfluous and take into consideration what they can learn from us. Theatre people are constantly learning from other professions - borrowing tools and skills - so why can't people borrow from theatre?
