Philips Strand Lighting and Philips Selecon LED Ghostlights Raise $10,000 for Behind the Scenes

Stage Directions: Sales of USB LED ghostlights, donated by Philips Strand and Philips Selecon, have raised $10,000 for the Behind the Scenes initiative at the ESTA Foundation. So far, Philips Strand Lighting and Philips Selecon donated 250 ghostlights to the charity, which financially supports stagehands who are ill or injured. The ESTA Foundation is still selling the ghostlights, so those who wish to get some cool swag and support a worthy cause can still do so.

Its always nice to see people in this industry support each other. It is great to also see that there is a foundation that supports people in our industry that are injured. Its a little sad to think about how $10,000 doesn't actually go that far in paying for medical injuries, especially if it's a severe injury.

I had no idea anything like this existed. I also had no idea that people would be willing to pay fairly large sums of money for things like this. I guess it makes sense, because people have been known to do much crazier things but at the same time I would be interested to learn about the incentive behind buying a light like this. It is such a great idea to sell them for the cause of benefiting ill and injured stagehands. Selling things like this from the entertainment industry to benefit charity is such a great idea, because not only is the object no longer going to waist after it has lived out its use, but charities are getting pretty easy money, and collectors and enthusiasts are also happy.
