Civic Light Opera season filled with hits
Pittsburgh Post-Gazette: A mermaid who wants to be part of our world, a haunting phantom, a tap-dancing ingenue and seven high-stepping brothers, plus the one and only Buddy Holly are part of the just-announced 2013 Pittsburgh CLO summer season.
The season opens May 31 at the Benedum Center with a pair of big song-and-dance classics. First up is "42nd Street," the enduring tale of a Broadway understudy's rise to stardom, summed up in the line: "You're going out there a youngster, but you've got to come back a star!" Following fast on its tap-dancing heels is "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers," with new tunes for the stage in addition to the Johnny Mercer/Gene de Paul songs from the 1954 film.
