Here are the top five comment generating posts of the past week:

College Kids Want To Make A Lot Of Money

thegrindstone.com: This may not come as a shock to most people, but a new Cornell study revealed that college freshman are all about the Benjamins. What may come as a shock, however, is the class of 2016 seems to care more about being wealthy than last year’s freshman. According to The Cornell Daily Sun, the university’s survey showed that 86% of their newbies feel being wealthy is very important or essential–a 13.4% increase compared to the class of 2015. When the university compared the results with other schools’, it was shown that the change was not unique to Cornell.

Your Coworkers That Say They Work 70 Hours A Week Are Big Liars

thegrindstone.com: According to new data from the US Bureau of Labor Statistics in a study highlighted by Harvard Business Review, people are either big liars when it comes to saying how much they worked or simply can’t count. When asked how much work they do each week, Americans tend to report longer hours than when they keep a more accurate account of their work. On average, a person who works about 40 hours a week will actually say they work 43. And those workaholics that say they work 75, made up about 25 of those hours in their head. Are you surprised by this? I’m not.

backstage.com: Training is important. As an actor, even if you disagree with the teachings of your professor, at least you know what won’t work for you. But as any struggling thespian will tell you, experience counts for a lot too. For enterprising, driven students looking to climb the ladder in double time, consider attending one of these five colleges. Each has excellent theater programs, and each is near (and often works with) important local theater companies and renowned talent.

Senator wants to bring copyright law to the runway

Ars Technica: Fashion designs aren't eligible for copyright protection. If one designer's work captures the imagination of consumers, other designers are free to slavishly copy it without getting permission or paying compensation. Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) is determined to change that. He represents New York City, home to some of the nation's leading fashion houses. And he has introduced the latest iteration of an idea that has been floating around Congress since at least 2006: to extend copyright protection to clothing designs. Last month, the Innovative Design Protection Act was approved by a Senate Committee. To become law, it must be approved by the full Senate and the House of Representatives.
