Southern Utah University, home to the Tony Award-winning
Utah Shakespeare Festival (http://www.bard.org) , is a
comprehensive, regional master degree-granting university and
the state of Utah's designated public liberal arts and sciences university.
Located in Cedar City, Utah, it is an accredited,
state-supported institution with an enrollment of nearly 8,000 students.
Surrounded by national parks, monuments, forests and wilderness
areas that draw millions of visitors annually from around the world, it is only
40 minutes from great snow skiing and year-round golfing. It is located 2 ½ hours from Las Vegas and 3
½ hours from Salt Lake City.
The Utah Shakespeare Festival seeks a highly motivated individual to
serve as Production Manager for the oversight of all production elements of the
Festival. This is a full-time, 12-month position
which begins January 2, 2013. Salary is $50,000+,
depending upon qualifications and experience; contingent on funding; excellent benefits.
As Production
Manager for the Utah Shakespeare Festival, responsibilities will include, but
not be limited to the following:
1. Develops and implements long range planning for production
areas in coordination with the Festival's Long Range Plan.
2. In conjunction with technical department heads and the Artistic and Executive Directors, prepares annual budgets for production areas.
3. Contracts designers, assistant designers, fight directors, musical directors, Festival Stage Manager, and seasonal production department heads for USF productions.
4. Works with Artistic and Administrative staff on advanced planning of upcoming seasons and production schedules.
5. Monitors financial business of production areas.
6. Oversees daily operation of all production areas.
7. Directs recruiting and hiring of production staff.
8. May represent USF at theatre conferences for recruiting/hiring purposes. (SETC, USITT, etc.)
9. Supervises year-round and seasonal production staff.
10. Facilitates all design and production conferences and production meetings.
11. Serves as liaison between directors, designers, and production departments to establish and enforce deadlines for design and construction.
12. Coordinates communication flow between Production, Administration, Personnel and Business Departments.
13. Responsible for scheduling Festival spaces for all events and activities.
14. Coordinates with other USF Departments for production support of non-production events (i.e. Gala(s), media events, educational outreach, etc.)
15. Other duties as assigned and mutually agreed upon with the Artistic Directors.

successful candidate will have:
* MFA in Theatre Arts with professional experience or substantial years of professional experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
* Must be highly organized
* Must possess excellent interpersonal communication skills.
* Strong collaboration and leadership skills.
* Strong written, verbal and presentational skills.
* Ability to work under severe pressures and meet deadlines.
* Substantial knowledge of current theatrical technologies.
* Strong proficiency in the use of management tools including computers, calendaring, budgeting, timetables, etc.
Experience:
Must have professional (regional theatre) experience with planning, scheduling, budgeting, supervising personnel, contract negotiations, and executing theatrical productions.
