In Susan's class, back when we were doing our theaters of Pittsburgh project, we talked a lot about Bricolage. We talked about the resource-scavenging productions they do. I think that kind of theater adds a modern feel to any show, and I think the idea of this radio show is really cool. Accessible theatre is a good thing; plenty of people are not involved in theatre because they have no access. On top of that, their radio show sounds really interesting. I'm impressed their show takes place in a "Pittsburgh-centric" world; that's cool too!
Theatre serves a great purpose when it comes to incorporating other art forms into our own. I think it's great that Bricolage is deciding to pay homage to old time radio shows. They may not have been performed infront of an audience but they were certainly listened to by an audience. Taking something that pertained to just one sense and adding to it to include other senses like sight is a great exercise, making one fill in the gaps more completely with the challenge of helping the audience the whole picture. In this case Bricolage is certainly rising to that challenge. It's also great that they are looking to the past for inspiration because after all, without the past, where would we be now?
